Connect FreshBooks to Hypamoon
Yes, with one catch. FreshBooks has an open API that you can use yourself, but it signs in with OAuth only, and that takes more work in a Hypamoon adapter today.
OpenThe check
Three questions about the API of FreshBooks, answered from its own docs.
- Public API docs
- Yes. Read the docs
- A key you create yourself
- Yes. Any FreshBooks account, trial or paid, can create an app with a redirect URI on the developer page and authorize it for itself. Only apps listed in the FreshBooks AppStore go through a review. freshbooks.com
- Versions or a changelog
- Yes. The docs keep an API changelog, although it has few entries. freshbooks.com
- How it signs in
- OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow with the client ID and secret of your app; the access token is short lived and the refresh token can be used once.
- Webhooks
- Yes. It can tell your app when something changes. freshbooks.com
- Hosting
- Cloud
In practice
What it takes in a real FreshBooks administration.
- Getting access
- Sign in to FreshBooks, open the developer page, create an app with a name and an https redirect URI, then run the OAuth flow once with your own account to get tokens.
- Limits
- No daily request cap, but bursts of calls are rate limited without a published number. List calls return at most 100 results. freshbooks.com
- Writing
- Read and write. Create and update clients, invoices, estimates, expenses, payments, time entries and projects through the scopes you grant.
- Cost
- Not published.
What you can build
Create invoices and clients from a web form or chat, log time entries, and pull open invoices and expenses for a quick overview.
Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. How adapters work
Good to know
- FreshBooks signs in with OAuth or signed requests only, with tokens that expire. The Hypamoon vault holds a fixed key today, so an adapter for FreshBooks takes more work: ask your chat to check this first.
- There is no API key or personal token, only OAuth. List calls return at most 100 results per page. New webhook callbacks must be verified with a code that FreshBooks posts to your URL.
Try it in your chat
Fill in what to read and write, and send it.
Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for FreshBooks. API docs: https://www.freshbooks.com/api/start. Read: [what]. Write: [what, or nothing].
In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. The full recipe

Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.
The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.
Check if [software] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.
Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
Ready to connect FreshBooks?
Connect your chat once, then ask it to build the adapter.
