Connect Exact Online to Hypamoon
Yes, with one catch. Exact Online has an open API that you can use yourself, but it signs in with OAuth only, and that takes more work in a Hypamoon adapter today.
OpenThe check
Three questions about the API of Exact Online, answered from its own docs.
- Public API docs
- Yes. Read the docs
- A key you create yourself
- Yes. A customer can register an app in their own Exact Online environment and gets a client ID and secret. Connecting other companies' administrations needs the Exact Online Developer subscription. exact.com
- Versions or a changelog
- Yes. All endpoints sit under /api/v1/; beta endpoints are marked separately. start.exactonline.nl
- How it signs in
- OAuth 2.0 with an app you register yourself in Exact Online; access tokens are short lived and must be refreshed with the refresh token.
- Webhooks
- Yes. It can tell your app when something changes. start.exactonline.nl
- Hosting
- Cloud
- Condition
- Connecting administrations outside your own Exact Online environment needs the Exact Online Developer subscription.
In practice
What it takes in a real Exact Online administration.
- Getting access
- An administrator registers an app in the App Center of your own Exact Online environment, gets a client ID and secret, and signs in once to approve access to the company (division).
- Limits
- 60 calls per minute per company per app, and 5,000 calls per day per company per app on Essentials, Plus and Professional (at most 20,000 per company per day in total). Premium allows up to 30,000 calls per company per day. Calls over the limit get HTTP 429. support.exactonline.com
- Writing
- Read and write. Create and update accounts, sales orders, sales invoices and sales entries; general journal entries can be created but not updated.
- Cost
- No API fee for an app in your own environment. Registering apps for other companies needs the Exact Online Developer subscription (15 euro a month, excl. VAT, up to 100 linked administrations). Extra API capacity comes with Premium or paid volume packs. exact.com
What you can build
A web form that creates the customer and the sales order straight in Exact Online, and a daily chat summary of overdue invoices with a draft reminder per customer.
Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. How adapters work
Good to know
- Exact Online signs in with OAuth or signed requests only, with tokens that expire. The Hypamoon vault holds a fixed key today, so an adapter for Exact Online takes more work: ask your chat to check this first.
- The API host depends on your country, for example start.exactonline.nl or start.exactonline.be.
Try it in your chat
Fill in what to read and write, and send it.
Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for Exact Online. API docs: https://start.exactonline.nl/docs/HlpRestAPIResources.aspx. Read: [what]. Write: [what, or nothing].
In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. The full recipe

Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.
The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.
Check if [software] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.
Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
Ready to connect Exact Online?
Connect your chat once, then ask it to build the adapter.
