Connect Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations to Hypamoon

Yes, with one catch. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations has an open API that you can use yourself, but it signs in with OAuth only, and that takes more work in a Hypamoon adapter today.

The check

Three questions about the API of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, answered from its own docs.

Public API docs
Yes. OData, JSON custom services and a REST metadata service, documented on Microsoft Learn. Read the docs
A key you create yourself
Yes. Register an app in your own Microsoft Entra ID and add it under System administration, Setup, Microsoft Entra applications. learn.microsoft.com
Versions or a changelog
Yes. Versioned platform releases (10.0.x) with documented behavior changes per version. learn.microsoft.com
How it signs in
OAuth 2.0 through Microsoft Entra ID: authorization code flow, or service to service with client credentials (secret or certificate). The app is mapped to a user in Finance and Operations that sets its rights.
Webhooks
Yes. It can tell your app when something changes. learn.microsoft.com
Hosting
Cloud and self-hosted

In practice

What it takes in a real Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations administration.

Getting access
An Azure administrator registers an app in Microsoft Entra ID with the Dynamics ERP permissions, then a Finance and Operations administrator adds its client ID under System administration, Setup, Microsoft Entra applications and links it to a service account user with the right roles.
Limits
Throttling based on environment load (HTTP 429 with Retry-After). The per-user limits (6,000 requests per 5 minutes, 52 concurrent requests) were switched off from version 10.0.36. Batches can hold up to 5,000 operations. learn.microsoft.com
Writing
Read and write. Create and update records through public data entities over OData, such as customers, vendors, sales and purchase orders; rights follow the mapped user. Not every entity allows writes.
Cost
Business events to Azure Service Bus, Event Grid or Power Automate need your own subscriptions for those services. learn.microsoft.com

What you can build

A supplier portal that creates purchase invoices and vendor records in Dynamics 365 through data entities, and a chat question that shows open sales orders per customer.

Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. How adapters work

Good to know

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations signs in with OAuth or signed requests only, with tokens that expire. The Hypamoon vault holds a fixed key today, so an adapter for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations takes more work: ask your chat to check this first.
  • This covers the cloud service. An on-premises installation must be reachable from the internet over HTTPS, and the service protection limits do not apply there.
  • Business events can be sent to an HTTPS endpoint, Azure Service Bus, Event Grid or Power Automate; you activate them per event in the business events catalog.

Try it in your chat

Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.

The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.
