The mechanics ask their own chat. The board answers.
A workshop job board with its own MCP server. A mechanic asks Claude or ChatGPT what is still open today, and the answer comes from the board. An example, built for a fictional workshop called Halden Road.
The job list was in the office. The mechanics were in the bays.
Which van, which bay, who is on it, what waits for parts: it lived on one screen in the office. Out in the bays that meant walking back in, or shouting across the floor.
Another app to install would not have helped. Everyone already had a chat on their phone.
What we built.
A job board app with its own MCP server, built from a chat.
- The boardToday's jobs by status, with bay, slot, mechanic and parts notes. A move is there for everyone at once.
- Its own MCP serverThree tools written with the app: list_jobs, get_job and update_job_status. Read and write are granted separately.
- Sign-in per personPeople sign in with a link by email. No passwords to hand out.
- A log of every moveOn the board or from someone's chat, with the time.
How the team uses it now.
- Ask what is still open today. From Claude or ChatGPT, on the phone in the bay.
- Move a job from the chat."Move J-1043 to in progress" lands on the board for everyone.
- Nobody learned a new tool. The office keeps the board, the floor keeps its chat.
App-MCP is in early access and opens per app. On this demo board chat access is not switched on yet; the app shows what a chat gets.
The build, in short.
- deploy_siteThe board on its own address.
- deploy_appServer code on /api, its own database, sign-in by email link, and the three chat tools.
- apply_app_migrationThe tables for jobs and activity, with the example jobs.
- A schedulePuts the example board back every night.
The gap between the AI and the floor.
The model is not the hard part. The hard part is getting it into the way a team already works: their mail, their systems, their approvals. That is the work of a forward deployed engineer, and Hypamoon is where the tool runs the same morning.
What would your team run on it?
