# Give your agent an inbox

support@ on your own domain, with an agent that reads every email, answers the easy questions with answers you approved, and asks you about the rest.

Type this in your chat

> Build the Hypamoon recipe inbox-agent: set up support@ on my domain and let an agent answer the easy questions. Ask me before it promises anything.

Send it in a chat with Hypamoon connected. Your chat fetches the full recipe below and builds it, and stops only where you have to act. Or paste the full prompt below yourself: same result.

## What you get

- An address like support@ on your own domain; a mailbox you already have keeps working
- An agent that reads every email, sorts it and answers plain questions by itself, only with answers you approved
- A draft for everything else, like an order, a complaint, a price or a date, that you or your team send with one click
- Each conversation in one thread: the customer's emails, what the agent answered and what waits for you
- A team inbox where only people you invite sign in, and a Try it box to see what the agent would do

## Two examples

What it answers by itself

"Are you open on Saturday?" The agent sends your approved answer about opening hours, in the same thread, and the inbox shows it as answered by the agent.

What waits for you

"Can I get 10% off if I order 20?" A discount is a promise, so the agent writes a draft and you decide. Nothing goes out until you press Send.

## Cost

The Mail module and a little AI credit

- Receiving and answering email on your own domain needs the Mail module on your project.
- Every email the agent reads uses a little AI credit; more is paid from your balance.
- A domain you do not have yet has its own yearly price.

## The full recipe

Show the full prompt

Give my business an inbox with an agent, with Hypamoon: support@ on my own domain, an agent that reads every email, answers the easy questions by itself with answers I approved, and asks me about the rest. Don't ask me anything you can find yourself.

1. The address. Call get\_project and list\_email\_domains. Use my domain that is on Hypamoon's nameservers and a verified sending domain. If it is on Hypamoon but not yet a sending domain, add\_email\_domain and verify\_email\_domain. If my domain is elsewhere, connect\_domain with method nameservers and tell me the one step at my registrar. If I have no domain at all, ask me which name I want (suggest\_domains), because buying one costs money.

2. The inbox. create\_app\_from\_template with template ai-mailbox and name "<business> inbox". Tell me in one line that the text of each email goes to the AI processor that get\_app lists (in the United States).

3. The agent. apply\_app\_migration on that app with 0002\_inbox\_agent.sql:

ALTER TABLE messages ADD COLUMN thread\_key TEXT;
ALTER TABLE messages ADD COLUMN answered\_with TEXT;
ALTER TABLE messages ADD COLUMN auto\_answered\_at TEXT;
ALTER TABLE messages ADD COLUMN reason TEXT;
CREATE INDEX messages\_thread ON messages (thread\_key, received\_at);
CREATE INDEX messages\_auto ON messages (from\_email, auto\_answered\_at);
CREATE TABLE answers (id TEXT PRIMARY KEY, question TEXT NOT NULL, answer TEXT NOT NULL, status TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT 'proposed', proposed\_by TEXT, approved\_by TEXT, approved\_at TEXT, created\_at TEXT NOT NULL, updated\_at TEXT NOT NULL);
CREATE INDEX answers\_status ON answers (status, created\_at);

Then deploy\_app with the site\_id of the inbox, main\_module index.js, modules: one index.js with exactly the code below, and vars {"SIGNATURE": "<a short sign-off with the business name>"}. Read it first: only an answer an admin approved goes out by itself, word for word, to the sender of a plain question, once per sender per day. Everything else (an order, a complaint, a price, a date, a refund, a discount, or no approved answer that fits) becomes a draft that a person sends.

// Inbox agent (a Hypamoon recipe on the template ai-mailbox).
//
// email(message, env) every email on an address linked to this app
// GET /api/messages?label=&status= the list, newest first
// GET /api/messages/<id> one message, its draft and the rest of the conversation
//   PATCH  /api/messages/<id>           { draft }: edit the draft
// POST /api/messages/<id>/send send the draft to the sender
// POST /api/messages/<id>/discard put it away without a reply
// GET /api/answers the answers, approved and proposed
//   POST   /api/answers                 { question, answer }: a proposal
// PATCH /api/answers/<id> { question, answer }: changed, so proposed again
// POST /api/answers/<id>/approve admin only: the agent may send it from now on
// POST /api/answers/<id>/retire admin only: the agent stops using it
// POST /api/try { subject, text }: what the agent would do; nothing is sent
//
// What goes out by itself: only an answer an admin approved, word for word, to the
// sender of a plain question, once per sender per day, never to an automated sender.
// The model only picks which approved answer fits; it never writes what is sent by
// itself. Everything else becomes a draft that a signed-in person sends or discards.

4. Proposed answers. From what you know about the business (its site, opening hours, address, delivery, how to reach a person), write 3 to 6 short answers to plain questions, without prices, discounts, dates or promises. Add them with apply\_app\_migration 0003\_proposed\_answers.sql as INSERT INTO answers (id, question, answer, status, proposed\_by, created\_at, updated\_at) VALUES ('a1', '...', '...', 'proposed', 'chat', '<now>', '<now>'), with ids a1, a2 and so on, and no semicolons inside the texts (the migration splits on them). They are proposals: nothing goes out by itself until I press Approve on the Approved answers page of the inbox.

5. Receive. add\_inbound\_address with local\_part support, my domain, receive\_on auto and the app\_id of the inbox. On a domain that already has a mailbox this receives on support@in.<domain> and my mailbox keeps working; say so.

6. Sign in. invite\_app\_user with my email address and role admin. If you do not know my address, ask me; never guess one.

7. Check. list\_inbound\_addresses shows the address active, and get\_app\_logs shows no errors. Then tell me exactly this: open the inbox, go to Approved answers, approve the answers you agree with, and use Try it to see what the agent would do with an email; then send a test email from my own mailbox to the address. With a test key nothing arrives by email, so Try it is the check.

Reply with the address, the link to the inbox, the proposed answers waiting for my Approve, and one line on what goes out by itself and what waits for me.

### Done when

- The inbox app exists from the template ai-mailbox, with 0002\_inbox\_agent.sql applied and the server code from the recipe deployed.
- list\_inbound\_addresses shows the support address active and linked to the app.
- The proposed answers are in the app with status proposed; none was approved by the chat.
- The user is invited as admin, or was asked for their email address.
-   get\_app\_logs shows no errors.
- The user was told what goes out by itself (only approved answers to plain questions) and what waits for them.

## What you need

- **A domain of your own.** On Hypamoon's nameservers, so the address can receive. Your current mailbox keeps working: the agent gets its own address next to it.
- **Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection.** Receiving email is not offered in ChatGPT. If your chat has no add\_inbound\_address tool, reconnect it.
