# Connect Vonage to Hypamoon

Yes. Vonage has a public, versioned API and you create the key yourself, so your chat can write the adapter.

## The check

Three questions about the API of Vonage, answered from its own docs.

**Public API docs**\
**Yes.** [Read the docs](https://developer.vonage.com/en/getting-started/concepts/authentication)

**A key you create yourself**\
**Yes.** An API key and secret are created with your account and shown in the dashboard; applications with a private key are made in the dashboard or CLI. [developer.vonage.com](https://developer.vonage.com/en/getting-started/concepts/authentication)

**Versions or a changelog**\
**Yes.** Versioned APIs such as Application API v2 and Verify v2, and changelogs linked from the developer portal. [developer.vonage.com](https://developer.vonage.com/en/getting-started/concepts/webhooks)

**How it signs in**\
API key and secret with HTTP Basic auth, or a JWT you sign yourself with the private key of a Vonage application; the JWT lives at most 24 hours, the key and secret do not expire.

**Webhooks**\
**Yes.** It can tell your app when something changes. [developer.vonage.com](https://developer.vonage.com/en/getting-started/concepts/webhooks)

**Hosting**\
Cloud

## What you can build

Text or call customers from your own flows, for example a missed call that turns into an SMS with a booking link.

Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. [How adapters work](https://hypamoon.com/docs/adapters)

### Good to know

- Your adapter uses a fixed key: you paste it once in the Hypamoon portal, never in the chat, and it only goes to the API host you allow.
- This is the Vonage Communications APIs platform. Some newer APIs, such as Voice, only accept the JWT method.

## Try it in your chat

Fill in what to read and write, and send it.

Say this in your chat

> Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for Vonage. API docs: https://developer.vonage.com/en/getting-started/concepts/authentication. Read: \[what\]. Write: \[what, or nothing\].

In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. [The full recipe](https://hypamoon.com/r/build-an-adapter)

## Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.

The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.

Say this in your chat

> Check if \[software\] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.

Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
