# Connect Klaviyo to Hypamoon

Yes. Klaviyo has a public, versioned API and you create the key yourself, so your chat can write the adapter.

## The check

Three questions about the API of Klaviyo, answered from its own docs.

**Public API docs**\
**Yes.** [Read the docs](https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/docs/authenticate_)

**A key you create yourself**\
**Yes.** Owners, admins and managers create a private API key under Settings > API keys, with read-only, full or custom scopes. [developers.klaviyo.com](https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/docs/authenticate_)

**Versions or a changelog**\
**Yes.** Date based revisions in a revision header, each supported for two years, plus a public changelog. [developers.klaviyo.com](https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/docs/api_versioning_and_deprecation_policy)

**How it signs in**\
A private API key (pk\_...) in the Authorization header with the prefix Klaviyo-API-Key; OAuth is meant for apps used by other Klaviyo accounts.

**Webhooks**\
**Yes.** It can tell your app when something changes. [developers.klaviyo.com](https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/docs/working_with_system_webhooks)

**Hosting**\
Cloud

## What you can build

Add sign-ups from a site or chat to a list with consent, look up a profile and its recent events, and send custom events that start a flow.

Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. [How adapters work](https://hypamoon.com/docs/adapters)

### Good to know

- Your adapter uses a fixed key: you paste it once in the Hypamoon portal, never in the chat, and it only goes to the API host you allow.
- The webhooks API is only for Advanced KDP customers and app partners; flows can also call a webhook as a step.

## Try it in your chat

Fill in what to read and write, and send it.

Say this in your chat

> Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for Klaviyo. API docs: https://developers.klaviyo.com/en/reference/api\_overview. Read: \[what\]. Write: \[what, or nothing\].

In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. [The full recipe](https://hypamoon.com/r/build-an-adapter)

## Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.

The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.

Say this in your chat

> Check if \[software\] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.

Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
