# Connect Etsy to Hypamoon

Possible, with help from Etsy. The API is documented, but you cannot just create a key: access goes through Etsy first.

Possible

## The check

Three questions about the API of Etsy, answered from its own docs.

**Public API docs**\
**Yes.** [Read the docs](https://developers.etsy.com/documentation/)

**A key you create yourself**\
**No.** A seller registers a Seller App for their own shop; Etsy approves it, usually within a few minutes. [help.etsy.com](https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/41918478450967-How-to-Register-a-Seller-App-with-Etsy-s-API)

**Versions or a changelog**\
**Yes.** Open API v3. [developers.etsy.com](https://developers.etsy.com/documentation/)

**How it signs in**\
API key on every request plus an OAuth token for private shop data; access tokens last one hour and refresh tokens 90 days.

**Webhooks**\
**Yes.** It can tell your app when something changes. [developers.etsy.com](https://developers.etsy.com/documentation/essentials/webhooks/)

**Hosting**\
Cloud

**Condition**\
Your app must be approved by Etsy; a Seller App for your own shop is usually approved in minutes. Tools for other shops need a Personal App or Commercial Access review.

## What you can build

Pull orders and listings from your Etsy shop into your own tools, and add tracking or update stock for approval.

Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. [How adapters work](https://hypamoon.com/docs/adapters)

### Good to know

- Your adapter uses a fixed key: you paste it once in the Hypamoon portal, never in the chat, and it only goes to the API host you allow.
- A Seller App can only reach your own shop.

## Try it in your chat

First get access from Etsy. Then fill in what to read and write, and send it.

Say this in your chat

> Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for Etsy. API docs: https://developers.etsy.com/documentation/. Read: \[what\]. Write: \[what, or nothing\].

In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. [The full recipe](https://hypamoon.com/r/build-an-adapter)

## Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.

The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.

Say this in your chat

> Check if \[software\] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.

Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
