# Connect Bitbucket to Hypamoon

Yes. Bitbucket has a public, versioned API and you create the key yourself, so your chat can write the adapter.

## The check

Three questions about the API of Bitbucket, answered from its own docs.

**Public API docs**\
**Yes.** [Read the docs](https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/bitbucket/rest/intro/)

**A key you create yourself**\
**Yes.** Create an API token with scopes in your Atlassian account, or an access token for a repository, project or workspace. [support.atlassian.com](https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/api-tokens/)

**Versions or a changelog**\
**Yes.** REST API 2.0 in the path and a developer changelog. [developer.atlassian.com](https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/bitbucket/changelog/)

**How it signs in**\
API token with basic auth (Atlassian email and token), or a repository, project or workspace access token as Bearer; OAuth consumers for apps. API tokens expire within a year.

**Webhooks**\
**Yes.** It can tell your app when something changes. [support.atlassian.com](https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/manage-webhooks/)

**Hosting**\
Cloud and self-hosted

**Condition**\
Workspace access tokens need a Premium plan.

## What you can build

Check build and pull request status from your chat, and get a message when a pull request is merged or a pipeline fails.

Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. [How adapters work](https://hypamoon.com/docs/adapters)

### Good to know

- Your adapter uses a fixed key: you paste it once in the Hypamoon portal, never in the chat, and it only goes to the API host you allow.
- Bitbucket Data Center must be reachable over HTTPS from the internet; it has its own REST API and personal access tokens.
- API tokens replace app passwords, which Atlassian is phasing out.

## Try it in your chat

Fill in what to read and write, and send it.

Say this in your chat

> Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for Bitbucket. API docs: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/bitbucket/rest/intro/. Read: \[what\]. Write: \[what, or nothing\].

In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. [The full recipe](https://hypamoon.com/r/build-an-adapter)

## Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.

The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.

Say this in your chat

> Check if \[software\] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.

Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
