# Connect Akeneo to Hypamoon

Yes, with one catch. Akeneo has an open API that you can use yourself, but it signs in with OAuth only, and that takes more work in a Hypamoon adapter today.

## The check

Three questions about the API of Akeneo, answered from its own docs.

**Public API docs**\
**Yes.** [Read the docs](https://api.akeneo.com/documentation/authentication.html)

**A key you create yourself**\
**Yes.** Create a connection under Connect, Connection settings in the PIM; you get a client ID, secret, username and password. [api.akeneo.com](https://api.akeneo.com/documentation/authentication.html)

**Versions or a changelog**\
**Yes.** REST paths under /api/rest/v1 and a What's new page in the docs. [api.akeneo.com](https://api.akeneo.com/documentation/introduction.html)

**How it signs in**\
OAuth 2.0 password grant with the client ID, secret, username and password of a connection; the access token lasts one hour and can be refreshed or requested again with the same details.

**Webhooks**\
**Yes.** It can tell your app when something changes. [api.akeneo.com](https://api.akeneo.com/event-platform/overview.html)

**Hosting**\
Cloud and self-hosted

## What you can build

Read product data and attributes from your chat, and update product texts or categories for approval.

Your chat writes it as a Hypamoon adapter from the docs above. Reading starts after you click Allow in the portal, and every write waits for your approval, one call at a time. [How adapters work](https://hypamoon.com/docs/adapters)

### Good to know

- Akeneo signs in with OAuth or signed requests only, with tokens that expire. The Hypamoon vault holds a fixed key today, so an adapter for Akeneo takes more work: ask your chat to check this first.
- A self-hosted Community Edition must be reachable over HTTPS from the internet, or through a secure tunnel, for the REST API calls.
- Event subscriptions run on the Akeneo Event Platform. The older Events API stays supported until 31 December 2026.

## Try it in your chat

Fill in what to read and write, and send it.

Say this in your chat

> Build the Hypamoon recipe build-an-adapter for Akeneo. API docs: https://api.akeneo.com/documentation/introduction.html. Read: \[what\]. Write: \[what, or nothing\].

In Claude, or another chat with the full Hypamoon connection; adapters are not in ChatGPT yet. You paste the key in the portal, never in the chat. [The full recipe](https://hypamoon.com/r/build-an-adapter)

## Tool not listed? Ask the chat to check its API.

The same three checks work for any software. Your chat reads the vendor's own docs and tells you what it found.

Say this in your chat

> Check if \[software\] has an open API that a Hypamoon adapter can use: public API docs, a key or token I can create myself without asking the vendor, and versions or a changelog. Link the pages you used.

Fill in the name of your software. Checking needs no connection to Hypamoon.
